Pensée Sauvage
Drawing inspiration from Theodore de Bry's 16th century prints of savages, in this new body of work created in residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Daniel Horowitz explores the tenuous relationship of the self and other. These works on canvas once again examine the “pensée sauvage” present in all of us and so dear to Claude Lévi-Strauss. “Canvas-collages” assembled with the help of a sewing machine, summon the unconscious of a collective memory and compose a metaphysics of the human soul, which Daniel Horowitz continues to explore throughout his work.
